Phoenix Solar Installation Overview

i'm stephen smith the owner of phoenix solar panel systems i'm out here in beautiful phoenix arizona off camelback road at an install that we recently did now this system right here on this flat roof has 23 rec 325 watt solar panels it's actually tilted off the roof due south to get the most generation out of panels this is a 7.475 kilowatt system that means it produces 7475 watts now what you're looking at right here this big box this is the sma sunnyvoy inverter and you can see the metal tubing comes down from the top of the house from the solar panels into this inverter

Power Conversion and Distribution

now what the inverter does is it converts dc energy which the panels create in the ac energy which your home uses now in a little bit i'm going to show you where this metal tubing goes back to the main breaker i'm going to show you that in just a second out here on the other side of the home and as you can see this is the main electric breaker box now the power that comes from the inverter well initially it comes from the solar panels to the inverter and then it comes to this box which then powers anything in your home that the solar panels can power at the time the electricity that's generated by the solar panels is then meant for immediate use in your home and anything you don't use immediately in your home is going to be sent to the grid

Grid Interaction and System Closeout

now there's metal tubing that comes out of this electric box and then it goes to that meter that we're going to show you next so this is the last point of the solar system right here the solar energy is produced by the panels it comes down to that inverter box that i showed you it's converted to ac energy and then it goes directly to your electrical box on the side of your home now any energy not immediately used in the home is then sent to this meter right here and after this meter it goes to the grid for whatever utility company now if you had a battery on your home the energy would first then hit that battery before it comes to this meter now any energy in your home not used if you have a battery is then sent to charge that battery and say say the battery's full or for this system you don't have a battery all the energy that comes here this is a disconnect box that will stop energy from going to the utility or not if it's turned on it's going to hit this meter now this meter the purpose of it is to count all the energy that you're sending to the grid whether you have aps or srp here in the phoenix metro area you're going to get credits for any energy that you send to the grid so you want to make sure you get the right credits and that's the purpose of this meter here to count the credits of energy that you're sending to the grid now that's pretty much all the system here we've covered everything again i'm stephen smith i'm the owner of phoenix solar panel systems thanks a lot for watching this video call us at 602-753-0560 for a free consultation today

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What type of solar panels are typically used in Phoenix Solar Panel Systems installations?

A: Phoenix Solar Panel Systems installations, such as the one described, utilize 23 REC 325 watt solar panels.

Q: How does the solar power generated by Phoenix Solar systems interact with the electrical grid?

A: Energy not immediately used in your home is sent to the grid. A dedicated meter counts this excess energy, allowing you to receive credits from local utility companies like APS or SRP in the Phoenix metro area.

Q: What is the primary function of the SMA Sunny Boy inverter in a Phoenix Solar setup?

A: The SMA Sunny Boy inverter's main purpose is to convert the DC (direct current) energy produced by the solar panels into AC (alternating current) energy, which is the standard type of electricity your home appliances and systems use.
